Snow

Well it snowed madly yesterday morning as well as this morning. I worked yesterday and for those who dont know, I work at an airport. The airport was closed first thing in the morning due to the weather and thus I spent my time making some snow sculptures. I didn't have any tools so what I made was pretty crude, but enjoy the pictures of them:

I'm not sure what the first one was meant to be when I made it, but looks like a fat cat kinda. The second one was a bunny.

Arg, meme thing

I fell into it, and now you all do too:

☞ Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper.
☞ Explain in no more than five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
☞ Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!

I regularly change my desktop, this just happens to be it right now cause I just love the picture.
I havn't posted here in aaaaaaages. Guess I just havn't felt like it. Most of my news these days seems to go on my FA ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/ikariyalter ).

Although I did want to post a video here that I have finally gotten around to uploading onto youtube. It's footage from Eurofurence 15. Gun Camera footage from my fursuit Shayzo:

<lj-embed id="3" />

Anthrocon write up

Ok, now I'm home and settled I think it's about time I write a little thing about Anthrocon. I'm going to keep it relatively short otherwise it'll go on forever about everything I did.

Day 0 Wednesday - My flights from the UK to Philly and then down to Pittsburgh were ok, quicker than I'm used to but the crew on the planes seemed like they just didn't care. Oh well, got to the Westin hotel at about 7pm that evening and met up with my roommates as well as getting my new fursuit. Spent a few hours in suit before relaxing.

Day 1 Thursday - Spent most of the day being social and getting registered. I'm so glad I always pre-reg, the queue for at-con registration was HUGE. Went to the dance in the evening but it wasn't my kind of music so didn't stay long.

Day 2 Friday - Spent money in the dealers room, picked up my new fursuit head from Lacy and fursuited for a while before hitting the fursuiter meet and greet. Went to a photoshoot for Sapphire's creations, Shayzo being one of them, then went to the spotted hyena panel and enjoyed it. Spent the rest of the day hanging about.

Day 3 Saturday - Went to the dealers room again, did a photoshoot with Lacy with the new Ikari, saw some magic by Dex before taking part in the fursuit parade as Shayzo. Saw the Poink and Ezra show in the afternoon which was a lot of fun as I'm a big fan of the Funday Pawpet Show, then watched the Masquerade which had some excellent performances as usual (one of which I did some audio recording for). Finally I enjoyed 2's rant which was his usual top notch performance. Oh yeah, and I caught a watch of the fireworks too, good show.

Day 4 Sunday - Spent most of the day hanging about and fursuiting except for attending the Concession panel (of which I'm a big fan) and the Fursuit Dance Competition finals (which was amaaaaazing).

And that was pretty much it. I had a lot of fun, hung out with some great people, spent time with my mate (love you), got new fursuits and loved every second of it. Next stop, Eurofurence, then RBW, then back to FC.

Anthrocon

Holy crap, Anthrocon is only like 4 days away and I'm getting so jittery. I'll be picking up a new head for my current fursuit as well as a whole new partial fursuit.

If anyone who's going wants to say hi then I'll be in fursuit like 80% of the con so look for either the six-tailed white kitsune in purple rave pants, or the steampunk looking hyena carrying a rifle and a sidearm. I may look mean sometimes but I've always got time for a hug.

I'll be sharing a room with my mate Arianna, her friend Darren and my close friend Heist and I've been told that two of those three will probably be following me around like my own personal group of fanboys.

I wont be putting on a stage performance at the masquerade this con, breaking my promise to myself to get on stage at every con I go to, but I couldn't get enough people together to put on the performance I wanted to. However I did lend my voice to another act, so I'll be up there in spirit. Although it someone decides they need and extra, I'll be volunteering my services because I do very much enjoy performing in suit.

Why do company bosses have to be so greedy?

Got a letter through at work a couple of days ago from our company management about our annual pay rise (I work as an airport baggage handler for those who don't know). Now last year the company wanted to give us a stupidly low pay raise until we threatened to strike and then our union negotiated a two year pay deal, with this year's pay raise being at maximum 5% and at minimum 2.75% depending on inflation. The company now don't want to to give us this 2.75% raise, saying in this letter that due to the current state of the economy it is "unreasonable to expect the company to pay 2.75% as a pay raise."

How on earth is is unreasonable for us to expect the company to follow through on a promise they made?

Today we found out the truth why the company don't want to give us a raise this year. After talking with our union representatives we discovered that after the negotiations last year the company made a budget of our pay raises and what they intended to offer the airlines as a handling fee so that they could project their earnings. Well it turns out that what they then went and did was use what was budgeted to be our pay raise to offer the airlines an even lower handling fee to increase business. So now essentially they don't want to give us a pay raise because it will eat into the company's projected profits.

.........cunts

Vacationing

I write this journal while sat on the floor in Philladelphia airport USA. I'm just waiting for my connecting flight taking me up to Reagan Internation in DC where I'll be met by my new mate Arriana and taken up to Silver Spring, Maryland. I'll be staying with her for the next 10 days (cause that's all I can get off work right now) and then heading home.

Anyone in the area that I know? If so gimme a shout and I might be able to swing a meeting

I might post a few times while I'm here, but if not then I'll post when I get home.

28th Feb Furmeet

Alrighty, yesterday (as my clock has just ticked over midnight) I went to my local furmeet up in London and had a blast. Got to see all my UK fur friends and tagged along on the fursuit walk as I decided not to fursuit at this meet again. It was a great walk full of fun things and silly adventures.

For those of you who are interested to see us furries in London, here are the photos I took:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/23344136@N07/sets/72157614570993220/

Ok, sleep time now I believe

Exams

Bleh, today I had to go up to London to do a series of exams in connection to my interest in becoming and Air Traffic Controller. The exams decide if you are worthy of an interview and go on from there, and I have to say......they were savage. Spatial Awareness, Object Recognition, Memory and Knowledge tests made up most of it along with a Q and A session with a current ATC student.

I only got to the end of one of the exams within the allotted time, and that was the one testing you knowledge of general ATC facts. But then from what I was hearing, not many people did finish the exams in full so I don't know how to feel about how well I did.

Oh well, I'll find in 14 working days if I passed or not.

Furmeet

I was at my local furmeet on this saturday past up in London and it was a good good time. Right off the role of FC was a great way to break through that post-con-depression. I decided not to go in fursuit this time and so I took my camera and joined the fursuit walk to take photos and have a laugh at others being entertaining. You can all see the photos I took over at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23344136@N07/sets/72157613479366110/

FC Report at last

Finally getting around to doing a con report for Further Confusion 2009.

Wednesday 21st - Travelled from London Gatwick to Las Vegas. A 10 hour airplane journey is never the most fun thing, but I spent the time napping and watching the in-flight movies, the only one of which I remember is Pineapple Express which was actually quite funny. Stopped over in Vegas 2 hours and then got a flight to San Jose, arriving there at a local time of 5pm. Grabbed the shuttle bus to the Holiday Inn (the convention overflow hotel because I was too slow to get a room in the main hotel) and checked in. Spent the evening unpacking, letting my roommate in and relaxing.

Thursday 22nd - To be honest, I dont remember too much of the day (my memory being bad, not being drunk). I think I mainly just hung around the main hotel and just talked to people, spent some time with kathrishali before registration. My roommate didn't pre-reg so he jumped in the at-con registration queue at 2pm when at-con reg didn't open until 5pm. Registration opened for pre-reg people at 4pm and that's when I turned up. Regular pre-reg line was huuuuuuuge but the line for sponsers/patrons was tiny. Guess what I was. Sponser baby. So I jumped in and walked past my roommate, sarcastically waving to him as I registered and was done within 20 mins. Didn't bother with opening ceremonies and didn't make the dance as jet lag had me wanting sleep.

Friday 23rd - The only panel I attended was in the morning, the Fursuit Roundtable, which was a meet-and-greet and fursuiters. This event was much better than the one at Anthrocon, that one was just a small dance just for fursuiters where you could mingle in suit. This event was a proper meeting where everyone sat down, took their head off and then went round the room so everyone would stand up, say your name and then a little about yourself, like a proper proper meet-and-greet. Spent the rest of the day randomly fursuiting until about 3pm when I changed and began my epic ninja photography rounds, popping up and taking photos everywhere. I then met up with furball2k , amranx and almightytora about doing fursuit photoshoots and interviews for my magazine. The evening I wanted to watch Fur-l In The Blank (a gameshow) and go to the retro dance. I got halfway in to the show before jet lag kicked my ass and I had to sleep.

Saturday 24th - Started with the rehearsal for FNL (the stage performance show) with Furball2k, Lauren and Kyera, that went really well and we didn't really need to iron anything out. I then did Furball and Amran's photoshoots which turned out really nicely, here's a couple:

Awesome shoots guys. After this it was the Fursuit Parade, always a good laugh, and we got a new record of 530 suits. After that is was a bit more random photography before the Masquerade in the evening (a judged costume contest) in which this suit stole the show:

Wolf Link wins!

Sunday 25th - Started the day with Tora's photoshoot with his suit Growly:

Then it was to get changed in to fursuit for Critterlympics (the fursuit games) in which I ended up being team captain of Fox Force Five and we actually managed to come second overall (through creative bribing at the end). There are some amusing videos on Youtube of the games, including our spectacular fail during the sled race which saw us having to carry/drag Sir Crimsonfox back across the finish line after our team dumped him out of the sled at the turning. Just had time after that for a quick trip back to the hotel for a shower before the final technical rehearsal for Furry Night Live, followed right along by the actual live performances. That went amazingly and the crowd went really wild for our act "Beach Girls" written by me with a little help from Hali. Unlike Anthrocon, these stage performances get voted on my the audience for who they think was best, We got a massive stack of votes this year (unlike my six votes last year) and I believe we came fifth overall.

Monday 26th - A day of doing sod all while the con staff begin to tear down the con, culminating the Dead Dog Party in the evening. Just before that however I was grabbed by Furball to be the offical photographer and videographer of the Offical Unoffical Dead Dog Parade that was last minute organised by Furball and JD Puppy. They got 53 suits in their parade, impressive considering most of the con-goers had gone home.

Tuesday 27th - Went home, 1 hour trip back to Las Vegas, 5 hours in Vegas airport and then 9 hours back home during which I slept most of the trip.</lj></lj></lj></lj>

Random stuff - Spent a lot of money at Spunky's art table getting sketches and a badge. Spent money in the art auction getting some very nice artwork. Grabbed this year's fursuit calender from Sofawolf Press's dealer table. Grapped some random prints from around the dealers room. Managed to miss doing sunookitsune and paws_wolfymutt 's photoshoots; hoping to get them at Anthrocon.

Overall the con was great fun and I got a lot done, including getting off my ass and doing important things for Hot Tails Magazine. I'm hoping for an Anthrocon2009 launch for the first issue of the magazine, so here's hoping.

Londonfur meet

Just back in from a furmeet in London, will have some photos to post once they become available. I wanted to go as a Sith for this meet so my original plan was to design a costume based on The Force Unleashed, but it came out looking nothing like how it should, but still have a decent effect.

Also:
http://www.klisoura.com/furrypoll.php
Go do it now

Wow....

Just took this little online test as faithfully as possible and was a little scared at how accurate it's description of me was. It was an in depth personality test that asks a load of questions about life situations and then tells you if you have a possible disorder or not.

Apparently I have a very high chance of being Schizotypal. Here's a summary of the disorder:
Many believe that schizotypal personality disorder represents mild schizophrenia. The disorder is characterized by odd forms of thinking and perceiving, and individuals with this disorder often seek isolation from others. They sometimes believe to have extra sensory ability or that unrelated events relate to them in some important way. They generally engage in eccentric behavior and have difficulty concentrating for long periods of time. Their speech is often over elaborate and difficult to follow.

And here are the symptoms:

Odd or eccentric mannerisms or appearance

Superstitious or preoccupied with paranormal phenomena

Difficult to follow speech patterns

Feelings of anxiety in social situations

Suspiciousness and paranoia

Odd beliefs or magical thinking

Appears shy, aloof, or withdrawn to others

Strange how that seems to describe me really rather well.

Wow, what a great new years gift from the company I work for. Redundancies. Management have decided there are too many of us working here (which there are in fact too few) and are doing an audit of my department next week to get rid of some people.
